ACE Laboratories is equipped to provide a robust portfolio of laboratory testing services for roofing and exterior wall products, in compliance with standards outlined by the Cool Roofs Rating Council (CRRC). The CRRC, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, publishes methods for evaluating the performance for over 3,000 different products and materials used in roofing.
CRRC testing focuses largely on assessments of radiative performance, solar reflectance, and thermal emittance. That’s because “cool roofs” and roofing materials are mostly classified by their ability to reflect heat and radiation away from a building or structure. When less heat is absorbed via the roof, the interior’s ambient temperature remains cooler. As a result, the building’s climate control system needs less power to maintain a comfortable temperature, and the building’s overall carbon footprint is lowered.
