Test Details

Compression testing is vital for assessing a rubber compound’s ability to perform under stress. This type of testing is especially pertinent for seals, dampers, and mountings. Compression testing is often conducted before and after the sample undergoes environmental conditioning, such as oven aging or fluid exposure, to measure how these factors affect its compressive properties. Common compression tests include ASTM D395, ASTM D575, and ASTM D6147. ASTM D395 assesses the compound’s behavior when subjected to specified static compression. ASTM D575 may also be utilized to investigate the stiffness of rubber materials. ASTM D6147 evaluates the force decay of a material under constant compression.
