Standard test method for determination of emittance of materials near room temperature using portable emissometers

ASTM C1371

ASTM C1371

ASTM C1371 is a test standard used to quantify the emittance of opaque and highly thermally conductive materials.

Test Details

ASTM C1371 uses data captured by a portable differential thermopile emissometer to quantify the emittance of materials with a thermal conductance of 1100 W m-2 K-1 or greater, near room temperature. Many opaque roof materials are assessed using the testing protocols described in ASTM C1371, though this standard may not be suitable for materials that are especially rough or highly thermally resistant. ASTM C1371 data may be used to support energy performance and heat flow assessments of roofs and roofing materials.
