Day 1- Introduction to Compounding: This course covers an introductory level of formulating elastomer compounds. Topics include raw material selection, construction of formulations and basic troubleshooting of compounds.

Day 3- Introduction to Mixing: The mixing portion of this course covers many topics dealing with Internal Mixers and Mixing Parameters (the things that affect rubber mixing).

  • Brief history of mixing equipment
  • What an internal mixer is and some of its different options
  • Different types of rotors and how they differ
  • The influence of various mechanical and non-mechanical parameters and the effects they have on
    • rubber mixing
    • production uniformity
    • wear and damage
    • the mixing process
  • Actual examples of problems encountered in the field, what caused them and how they were resolved
    There will be an optional tour of the ACE Laboratories LLC facility during the course.
